The project, scheduled to commence in 2025 and conclude in 2027, entails the doubling and realignment of tracks, the upgrading of signalling systems, and the construction of several viaducts.

A consortium comprising VINCI Construction's Australian subsidiary, Seymour Whyte, and John Holland has been awarded the contract to upgrade a railway section between Beerburrum and Nambour in south-east Queensland.

The project's estimated cost is 432 million euros, with construction scheduled to commence in 2025 and conclude within a two-year timeframe. The project encompasses the doubling and realignment of the rails, the upgrading of a car park, and the modernization of the signalling systems. Furthermore, the project encompasses the construction and renovation of multiple viaducts

This project represents the inaugural phase of the North Coast Line's renovation, commissioned by the Department of Transport and Main Roads. The enhanced and modernised line will facilitate increased traffic and optimize passenger and freight transport in a rapidly developing region.

By 2023, the consortium had already been selected for the preliminary phase, which encompassed design, consultation with stakeholders, geotechnical reconnaissance work and the acquisition of environmental and archaeological permits.
