The project aims to improve safety and efficiency with advanced interlockings, train protection systems, centralized traffic control, and telecommunications for railway operations.

Adif AV is investing €214 million in the installation of the ERTMS Level 2 signalling and traffic management system on the Murcia-Almería high-speed line. The project will equip the new line (200 km) and the Pulpí-Aguilas section.

The project will involve the installation of the ERTMS Level 2 train protection and control system, in which Spain is the European leader, and the rest of the associated equipment: interlockings (systems for the remote control of signals), train protection systems, auxiliary systems for the detection of possible obstacles falling on the track, centralized traffic control (CTC) and telecommunications for railway operations.

The contract includes maintaining all systems and equipment for four years and has been awarded to the joint venture formed by CAF Signalling, FCC Industrial e Infraestructuras Energéticas and Revenga Ingenieros. An investment of 3,500 million euros is being made in the development of the Murcia-Almería high-speed line, the strategic axis of the Mediterranean Corridor.

At present, all the sections of the line's platform have been completed or are under construction. The first electrification works are already underway, while the track-laying projects are progressing.

The project will contribute to the structuring and cohesion of the region by integrating Almería into the high-speed rail network through the Levante corridor, the Mediterranean corridor and the European networks.
