The “meet and greet” for the new locomotive will happen on 28 October at Chaozhou Railway Cultural Park. Participants of the welcome party will be EMU900, EMU3000, and R200 diesel locomotives recently delivered by Stadler. The first job for the newly delivered E500 locomotive will be to pull the Island Star Disney Painted Sightseeing Train.
Taiwan Railway Administration (TRA) ordered 68 locomotives in 2019 from Toshiba Infrastructure Systems & Solutions Corporation (TISS). These are the first electric locomotives for TRA since 1992. Although they are designed for passenger and freight service, these electric locomotives will mainly be used for express passenger trains connecting major cities in Taiwan, pulling Chukuang and Tzechiang express trains.
