Spanish rolling stock manufacturer, Talgo, will double the number of trainsets, which it will make for Danish passenger rail operator, DSB. In total, DSB will now receive 16 trainsets.

After signing a framework agreement with maximum value of 500 million euros, DSB has made a second call-off for Talgo 230 trainsets made by the Spanish producer. On 18 April 2023, DSB ordered eight more trainsets, including spare parts, worth 184 million euros. The maintenance contract is still under negotiations.

Talgo 230 is a product for European market, 23 of these trainsets are also currently made by Talgo or German DB. They reduce energy consumption by 30% thanks to their light weight and technology used. With a maximum speed of 200 km/h, their bodies are broader, increasing travel comfort on routes they are used. For DSB, there is a plan to put these trainsets into operation on a Copenhagen – Hamburg route. On contrary, DB plans to use them on the Berlin – Amsterdam route.
