The series reflects technical changes requested by the operator, with adjustments concentrated mainly on the electrical equipment.

ČD Cargo has placed into service locomotive 742.794, the first locomotive delivered from the third CZ LOKO production series of the EffiShunter 1000M.

A change introduced with this series concerns mutual battery charging during multiple working operation. The system now allows charging of up to two locomotives with their diesel engines shut down from a running locomotive. Earlier versions allowed charging of only one additional vehicle in this operating mode.

Linked to this function is the installation of a new type of battery and charger. The charger is integrated into the R3 electrical cabinet, replacing the earlier configuration used on previous series.

Another modification involves the electrodynamic brake. A new resistor has been installed, now unified with the design used on the Class 744.1 EffiShunter 1000.

ČD Cargo has already brought into operation 75 modernised EffiShunter 1000M locomotives delivered in two earlier series. The current contract includes 40 locomotives ordered on a firm basis.
