The Euro9000 joins RBP’s fleet as infrastructure challenges in Germany persist, underlining the need for diesel capability.

German rail freight operator RBP Rheinische Bahnpersonal- und Verkehrsgesellschaft has leased a Euro9000 locomotive from European Loc Pool (ELP), during the company’s tenth anniversary.

The Euro9000 is a hybrid multisystem locomotive from Stadler, offering up to 9 MW in electric mode and 1.9 MW diesel power. Its tractive effort reaches 500 kN.

According to RBP, the decision to opt for this model was influenced by its dual-mode capability, allowing flexible operation in both electrified and non-electrified sections, as well as its suitability for cross-border traffic and performance under diesel traction.

The locomotive has been procured under ELP’s Full-Service Leasing scheme, which includes maintenance and servicing. RBP does not operate its own ECM or maintenance facilities, making the leasing package with defined service structures a core aspect of the agreement.

Headquartered in Siegburg, RBP currently employs around 50 staff and operates primarily in freight transport, including the handling of hazardous materials.
