The handover was completed recently, and the locomotive has already entered the company’s operational pool.

Polish rail freight operator Silva LS has taken delivery of a new electric locomotive, the Gama 111Ed-30, from PESA.

The Gama locomotive is part of PESA’s standard electric locomotive platform and is certified for 3 kV DC operation. It is designed for both passenger and freight services but has been increasingly adopted by logistics companies for heavy freight duties on electrified lines across Poland.

With this addition, Silva LS continues to expand its fleet capacity using newer electric traction units. The locomotive is expected to be deployed on domestic routes where 3 kV DC catenary is in place. The company has not disclosed specific corridors or clients associated with the unit’s deployment.

Silva LS has been gradually renewing its locomotive pool in line with operational requirements. The company has been on the market since 2018, predominantly serving inbound logistics for Kronospan wood processing plants. Its modern fleet consisted of 2 owned diesel Newag-modernized 15D/A locomotives, and leased electric locomotives, now introducing its own modern electric locomotive into operation. Silva LS has also introduced new stanchion containers in 2024.
