Ukrainian Railways (Ukrzaliznytsia, UZ) plans to acquire ten battery-powered shunting tractors as part of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) project titled "Emergency Support for Ukrainian Railways."

Express Service OOD, a Bulgarian manufacturer, secured the contract following an international tender conducted through the EBRD procurement platform in mid-2024. The contract for delivery and associated spare parts has a total value of EUR 6 million.

Prior to initiating the tender process, UZ carried out a detailed assessment of technical specifications and manufacturer capabilities.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025, with the final units arriving by the end of 2026. UZ plans to deploy these tractors for shunting duties and auxiliary operations at locomotive depots and container terminals.
