Siemens Mobility has received an order to expand ÖBB's fleet with 21 additional Desiro ML trains to strengthen regional services in eastern Austria by 2026.

The new trains will bring ÖBB's total Desiro ML fleet to 294 trainsets and will significantly improve regional rail services, particularly on lines such as Vienna Meidling to Floridsdorf and various branch lines in Lower Austria.

Commenting on the delivery, Albrecht Neumann, CEO of Rolling Stock at Siemens Mobility, said: "The Desiro ML is an internationally proven regional train with consistently high passenger satisfaction ratings. It is designed to offer state-of-the-art technology and maximum comfort, with extensive provision for passengers with reduced mobility".

Desiro ML trains are renowned for their advanced technology and high level of passenger comfort, with amenities such as barrier-free access, ergonomic seats with USB ports, space for bicycles and prams, as well as modern information systems and WiFi service. These trains are tailored to improve the travel experience across the ÖBB network and reflect Siemens Mobility's commitment to improving public transport with innovative and accessible solutions.
