RAILPOOL will lease these 13 locomotives back to Captrain under a long-term contract. This arrangement is expected to streamline Captrain's fleet management strategies by ensuring access to a consistent set of vehicles, complemented by full service maintenance provided by RAILPOOL.
The addition of these 13 locomotives brings Captrain's current fleet of leased units from RAILPOOL to a total of 32, with a further eight units expected to join the fleet from the second half of the year.
Mauro Pessano, CEO of Captrain Italia, was enthusiastic about the partnership's ability to accelerate the company's fleet renewal process. Highlighting the benefits of the new locomotives, Pessano pointed to their superior performance in terms of traction, reliability and cost-effectiveness. He also highlighted the integration of the Last Mile module and the readiness for the forthcoming implementation of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) as significant advantages for Captrain's customers.
For his part, Alberto Lacchini, General Manager of RAILPOOL Italia, confirmed the company's commitment to the Italian market. He pointed out that the agreement reinforces RAILPOOL's leadership in the local rental sector, with the largest fleet of Alstom Traxx DC3 Last Mile locomotives in Italy.
Once fully operational, Captrain will therefore have a homogeneous fleet of 32 locomotives under RAILPOOL management, with obvious advantages in terms of operational management.
