Two hybrid design ModuTrac locomotives will be delivered from Germany to capital of the Netherlands.

Schalke Locomotives has signed a contract for the delivery of its two ModuTrac locomotives to the city public transportation company of the Dutch capital, GVB Amsterdam.

Both hybrid locomotives are zero emission, sourcing their energy from the third rail or from innovative lithium batteries.

ModuTrac locomotives are special thanks to their exchangeable powerpack, making them easily convertible from diesel to battery operation. Schalke Locomotives also offer the version equipped with an additional pantograph. The manufacturer, present on the market since 1872, specializes in mining locomotives, urban rail transport and specialty equipment, successful on this niche rail market.
