A new, high-capacity electric shunting locomotive powered by Yiwei's lithium battery system was completed in Zhuzhou.

Designed specifically by CRRC Zhuzhou Machinery for the Lianyang Iron and Steel Group, this locomotive is distinguished by its large-capacity lithium iron phosphate battery, serving as its sole power source. It has a maximum traction power of 1.5MW, making it the most powerful of its kind in China.

This capability aligns with the needs of various industries, including metallurgy, railway transportation, ports, electric power, petrochemicals, and mining.

The locomotive's eco-friendly technology is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 150 tons annually per unit. Its charging system enables it to rapidly gain power and haul up to 1,200 tons of cargo for 128 kilometres on a full charge.
