Slovenian national passenger rail company, Slovenske železnice – Potniški promet (SŽ PP), will buy additional 20 diesel multiple units from Stadler.

SŽ PP is extending its Stadler-made fleet of trains. The operator has just contracted Stadler to deliver twenty diesel multiple units. These will be produced in the Polish Siedlce factory of Stadler.

Stadler already delivered a fleet of single and double deck electric and diesel multiple units to Slovenian railways. Altogether, 52 trainsets are running in the country already, and they can operate in a mixed traffic of single- (FLIRT) and double-deck (KISS) trains, even in triple traction.

The newly-delivered diesel units will have engines with lower environmental impact and the possibility of being rebuilt into dual-mode units. With a maximum speed of 140 km/h, each of the new FLIRT units will be able to accommodate 171 passengers. They will also be approved for operations in Austria and Croatia.
