The dual-mode locomotives will add to the operator’s existing CZ LOKO fleet.

EVM Rail has ordered two CZ LOKO DualShunter 2000 locomotives for its freight and shunting operations in Italy.

The Italian company already operates two CZ LOKO EffiShunter 1000 locomotives, numbered 744.131 and 744.142. The new DualShunter 2000s will give EVM Rail locomotives capable of operation both under overhead electrification and on non-electrified tracks.

The DualShunter 2000 is a four-axle locomotive designed for shunting and line service. It can operate under 3 kV DC and 25 kV 50 Hz AC electrification and is also equipped with an 895 kW Caterpillar C32 Stage V diesel engine for use away from electrified lines.

EVM Rail is an Italian rail freight operator based in Verona. The company provides traction, terminal and shunting services, mainly for industrial and intermodal customers in northern Italy.

The order extends CZ LOKO’s position in the Italian market, where the Czech manufacturer has supplied EffiShunter and 741.7-series locomotives to several freight and industrial operators.
