The decision follows the announcement by SNCF Voyageurs that French government support for these connections will not continue beyond this year.

ÖBB has confirmed it will discontinue its Nightjet services between Vienna–Paris and Berlin–Paris from 14 December 2025.

The cross-border overnight services required cooperation between national operators. With SNCF no longer participating, the two routes will be withdrawn from the timetable. The Vienna–Paris Nightjet had only entered service in 2021 as part of renewed efforts to expand Europe’s night train network.

The Vienna–Brussels Nightjet will remain in operation in 2026, with three weekly services scheduled to continue. ÖBB stated that it plans to maintain and develop its broader night train offering, which includes routes such as Vienna–Amsterdam and Munich–Rome.

The Austrian operator is preparing to introduce 24 new-generation Nightjet trainsets on its network. These are intended to gradually replace older rolling stock and increase overall capacity on existing overnight routes.
