The two companies will acquire a 15,000 m² parcel from Consorzio ZAI and invest approximately €20 million in the development.

Siemens Mobility and RAILPOOL have agreed to build a new maintenance and service facility at the Verona Interporto cargo hub in Italy.

The planned facility will serve as an open‑access depot for light maintenance of multisystem (MS) and direct current (DC) locomotives compatible with major European signalling systems. The layout will include five tracks for routine servicing and one track with a wheel lathe for wheelset reprofiling and testing.

Located on the Verona–Brenner corridor, the service hub is intended to support operational readiness and lifecycle upkeep of locomotives used in cross‑border freight transport. It is expected to complement the existing Siemens Mobility Rail Service Center in Novara, which has provided maintenance services since 2015 along the Rhine–Alpine core network corridor.

RAILPOOL aims to extend its workshop capacity beyond its current six facilities and make use of its spare‑parts inventory, while Siemens Mobility will add the new site to its pan-European depot network. The agreement between the firms also ties into their 2024 framework for delivery of multisystem locomotives able to operate across up to 16 countries.
