New railway terminal in Portugal: MEDWAY Sines Raquete is operational

The new terminal is situated approximately 160 km south of Lisbon.

Located in the port city of Sines, Portugal, the new MEDWAY Sines Raquete terminal began operations in August 2024. It has quickly become active, handling 19 roundtrip trains in its first month. Plans are in place to initiate multi-client connections to various destinations across Portugal and Spain before the end of the year.

The terminal covers 22,000 square meters and has a capacity of 600 TEUs. It can dispatch up to two trains daily, making it a functional part of the logistics chain in the region. With 470 meters of railway track, the terminal offers direct rail connections to any destination. Additional facilities include storage, deconsolidation, cargo consolidation, and a repair and cleaning area, all under 24-hour surveillance.

Situated near the Iberian Peninsula and with direct access to the seaport of Sines, the terminal serves as a key point for rail and maritime integration. The first two trains running into the terminal were carrying 22 40-foot containers each from Setúbal and Louriçal.
