The maintenance involves passenger trains, high-speed trains, locomotives, and subways.

The facility is the second in Europe for locomotive maintenance after the Allach factory site in Germany.

With an investment of about 6 million euros for infrastructure, services, and skills, Siemens's Rail Service Center of Novara now extends over 2300 square meters indoors and about 6300 square meters outdoors for a total of 9000.

It has 6 tracks with 10 workstations that can be used simultaneously, each of them equipped with tools for preventive and corrective maintenance of locomotives. At the same time as the surface was enlarged, the range of preventive and corrective maintenance services was also expanded, which now also includes the major R1 overhaul and accident repair in Italy.

Finally, predictive maintenance will be strengthened in the future thanks to Railigent X which allows rail operators, technicians, and asset owners to generate information on the performance of their assets.
