BLS Cargo will procure ten more Vectron locomotives to its existing fleet of 40. They will start arriving in 2026 based on a recent agreement with Siemens Mobility. New locomotives will have a DACHINLBE country package for the traffic from Italy via Switzerland to Benelux. BLS Cargo has the most robust traffic flow via the Lötschberg Pass, and for the Benelux section, cooperation with its subsidiary, Crossrail Benelux, is used.
BLS Cargo is the second customer of Vectrons with an improved adhesion system XLoad, following the order of 20 locomotives for SBB Cargo International. BLS Cargo tested this enhanced locomotive in Spring 2022 on the Lötschberg north ramp, where it could pull a 1,020-tonne train on a 27‰ gradient.
