The meeting followed talks between DB CEO Evelyn Palla, the three state governments, DB InfraGO and DB Cargo.

Deutsche Bahn has agreed to organize an ad-hoc expert meeting with steel producers and logistics companies after short-term rail supply bottlenecks affected steel companies in Saarland, Lower Saxony and Brandenburg.

The discussion focused on rail logistics for critical raw materials used by the steel industry. The three state premiers initiated the meeting after disruptions in rail transport caused supply constraints at affected steel companies.

DB said it had introduced immediate measures to manage the situation. These included prioritising deliveries and increasing the availability of materials and personnel at short notice.

DB InfraGO will organize the expert meeting with the affected industry and logistics sector. The aim is to identify operational measures to stabilize raw material transport by rail in the short term and secure industrial supply chains over the longer term.

The state governments said stable rail supply chains are required for industrial planning and competitiveness. They also called for better construction site management and reliable transport commitments to avoid production cuts during rail works or freight operating disruptions.

DB InfraGO CEO Philipp Nagl said the infrastructure manager would work with companies along the supply chains to identify operational measures for systemically important industries.
