ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is expanding its nationwide TransNET to include a connection between Hungary and the northern Adriatic.

The TransFER Budapest-Rijeka is particularly suitable for 20' and 40' containers. It operates two round trips per week between the BILK terminal in Budapest and the terminal in the port of Rijeka. From the BILK terminal it is possible to reach other destinations in Western Europe such as Neuss, Vienna, Wels or Ludwigshafen via antenna connections.

The Port of Rijeka is an important transshipment hub for Southern, Central and South-Eastern Europe. RCG opened its own office there at the beginning of the year. With this new TransFER, a direct network connection without stopover is created for maritime goods flows between Budapest and Rijeka, in addition to several block train solutions for customers.

In the past year, RCG has opened several new TransFER lines. Among them were three between Central Europe and Turkey (read more) and one between the Czech Republic and the North Sea (read more).
