The partnership is focused on developing intermodal transport along the Middle Corridor.

During the Transport and Logistics Exhibition in Munich, Czech forwarding company MALBI-Trans and Romanian rail freight operator Carpatica Feroviar România signed a cooperation agreement.

Middle corridor operations

The Middle Corridor connects China with Europe through a multimodal route combining rail and sea transport. The route crosses Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Black Sea, and enters Europe through ports such as Constanța. Since early 2022, the corridor has seen increased use, driven by adjustments in international transport flows. Infrastructure improvements and port capacity expansions in Aktau, Baku, Poti, and Constanța have contributed to the current operational capacity of this route.

MALBI-Trans has been working on services along the Middle Corridor since 2022, aiming to optimise cargo transit times and reliability for customers. The company integrates rail and sea legs to offer containerised transport through this corridor.

Carpatica Feroviar profile

Carpatica Feroviar România is a rail freight operator based in Romania. The company was established in October 2024 and has been licensed for rail freight operations by the Romanian Railway Safety Authority (ASFR) since 7 May 2025, under licence number LTF.49 din 07.05.2025. The company’s activities align with efforts to develop rail freight capacity within Romania and expand the country's role in Eurasian transport routes.

Cooperation scope

The agreement between MALBI-Trans and Carpatica Feroviar will connect Czech and Romanian intermodal operations on the Middle Corridor, contributing to further utilisation of the route’s available capacity between Asia and Europe. The cooperation is positioned to support intermodal transport solutions through joint service offerings across multiple countries.
