The procurement process, initiated by Rail Cargo Austria, focused on acquiring freight wagons suited for general cargo operations.

Rail Cargo Austria has concluded a leasing contract with Transwaggon for 330 rail-bound freight wagons of the Hbbillns and/or Hbbillnss type. The contract was awarded under a negotiated procedure with prior publication of a call for competition. The total value of the awarded contract is EUR 10.5 million.

These covered wagons—classified as Hbbillns or Hbbillnss—are typically used in conventional rail freight transport for goods requiring protection from weather and other external conditions. The wagons are intended for operations primarily around Vienna and its northern surroundings.

Transwaggon is a wagon leasing company based in Zug, Switzerland, celebrating its 60th anniversary.
