CargoBeamer will double the number of weekly round trips on its Calais-Perpignan route, starting October 7. The service will increase from two to four weekly round trips, providing more capacity for rail transportation between northern and southern France.
Under the new schedule, trains will depart from Calais on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while return trips from Perpignan are available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. The transit time is approximately 26 hours. DB Cargo France will continue to provide traction for the service.
Since its launch in 2021, this route has played an important role in connecting northern and southern Europe. The Calais terminal offers connections to the UK and the Benelux region, while Perpignan links to southern France and northern Spain. Each train has a capacity of up to 42 units, contributing to a reduction in CO2 emissions compared to road transport estimated at up to 47 tons of CO2.
