The initiative, which aims to promote sustainable rail transport and reduce transit traffic in the Tyrol, establishes direct freight connections between Northern Italy and key destinations in Germany, including Göttingen and Hanover.

ÖBB's Rail Cargo Group (RCG) has announced the expansion of its TransNET offer with the introduction of two new rail connections to and from Italy and the improvement of an existing service. This expansion, particularly through the Brenner Pass, underlines RCG's commitment to facilitating a modal shift towards more sustainable rail transport. The initiative aims to alleviate the challenges of transit traffic in Tyrol while increasing the efficiency of freight transport across Europe.

An important development is the establishment of a direct TransFER service between Verona in Northern Italy and the DUSS terminal in Göttingen, Lower Saxony, with four return trips per week. This new route is designed to facilitate the efficient movement of 20 to 45-foot containers and cranable trailers, strengthening the continental flow of goods between these regions.

In addition, RCG has launched the TransFER Padua-Hannover service, providing an effective transport link between Northern Italy and Germany with four weekly round trips. This service, which is to be increased to six round trips per week, is designed for containers and swap bodies of similar size and has a direct connection to the Hanover-Leinetor rail terminal.

Moreover, the TransFER Verona–Wuppertal connection has been upgraded to operate six round trips per week, up from the previous four. This increase not only strengthens the non-stop connection between important economic areas in Italy and Germany but also supports the transport of various container sizes and cranable trailers.
