The multi-faceted project will include a state-of-the-art freight terminal, track technology center and maintenance facilities, significantly improving the city's rail infrastructure.

Adif, the Spanish railway infrastructure manager, is investing €60.9 million to transform Valladolid into a major hub for freight transport and railway technology. This development, part of the Atlantic Corridor project, will strengthen Valladolid's position as a high-speed rail hub and significantly improve its rail infrastructure.

The Valladolid Railway Complex, connected to the Eastern Bypass, is a multifaceted project that includes several key components. It includes the construction of a new freight terminal that will be integrated into Adif's network of strategic intermodal hubs. This terminal will facilitate efficient freight handling and strengthen the city's logistics capabilities. The complex will also include a track technology center, the Redalsa center - specialized in rails and switches - and a maintenance base. Lantania and Copcisa have formed a joint venture to carry out the works.

The Eastern Bypass and the Valladolid Railway Complex are central to the transformation of the city's railway network. The aim is to reclaim urban space and speed up passenger and freight transport. In particular, freight traffic will be rerouted to avoid passing through the Valladolid-Campo Grande station, resulting in more efficient operations.

Adif is also working to increase the capacity of Valladolid-Campo Grande station, transforming it into a high-speed rail hub. This upgrade will include the installation of a second standard gauge track at the station's northern exit to accommodate the expected increase in traffic following the expansion of the network and the liberalization of passenger transport.

The Valladolid Railway Complex will bring together several facilities on a single site covering an area of 230,000 m². It includes a technical facility with extensive track capacity for train handling, a container loading area, and a logistics expansion zone. The Track Technology Centre and the Redalsa Centre, with 12,000 m² and 140,750 m² respectively, will also be located within the complex. An Adif maintenance base with workshops, warehouses and offices will also be built.
