Preliminary results show revenue falling year-on-year, with the company posting an operating loss of EUR 18.4m.

Željeznice Federacije Bosne i Hercegovine (ŽFBiH) recorded a 9.3% decline in freight volumes in 2025, while passenger traffic increased by 4%.

International freight revenue dropped by more than 50%, following disruption on the southern corridor and the loss of traffic linked to key industrial customers. The bankruptcy of the Lukavac coke plant — previously accounting for around 30% of freight income — further weakened results and led to additional write-offs.

ŽFBiH expects continued pressure in 2026. The permanent loss of coke traffic and uncertainty surrounding steel production in Zenica could remove tens of millions of euros in annual revenue. Management has identified restructuring, financial consolidation and infrastructure modernisation as priorities, alongside legislative changes to secure stable railway funding.
