Gornergrat and Matterhorn Gotthard Railway with strong passenger growth across network in 2025

The group plans continued investment in railway infrastructure, rolling stock and tourism offerings, including the procurement of ORION multiple units for the MGBahn fleet.

BVZ Holding reported continued growth across its tourism and regional mobility activities in 2025, with passenger numbers increasing on both the Gornergrat Railway (GGB) and the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway (MGBahn).

On the Gornergrat line above Zermatt, passenger volumes rose to 863,866, the highest level recorded to date. The Glacier Express, operated in cooperation with Rhätische Bahn, carried 313,863 passengers, reflecting sustained demand for premium alpine rail tourism.

In regional mobility, more than 10 million passengers travelled on MGBahn services between Disentis or Göschenen and Zermatt for the first time. The Furka car shuttle transported 285,508 vehicles, while freight volumes between Visp and Zermatt increased to 45,504 tonnes.
