Alstom has opened a new training centre for welders and fitters at its Mátranovák factory in Hungary, where the company produces railway bogie frames for customers worldwide. The facility will be used both for training new employees and for further qualification of existing production staff.
The centre is equipped with 10 welding stations and production-grade handling equipment to replicate shop-floor conditions. Trainees will follow an 8 to 12-week programme focused on welding techniques for bogie frames, basic metalworking skills and safe operation of machinery used in series production.
According to Alstom, the investment is intended to support production quality and workforce availability at the site, which employs more than 400 welders and fitters. Bogie frames are a safety-critical component of rolling stock, and the company said the new centre is designed to shorten the transition from training to operational work on the production line.
The training centre is also linked to regional vocational education. Alstom said the Mátranovák site is accredited as a dual-training facility and will provide practical training for several technical professions, as well as internships for students in logistics, administration and engineering fields.
