Gemini Trains has entered a co-branding partnership with Uber to promote cross-channel rail travel between London, Paris, and Brussels.
Planned cross-channel passenger service
The proposed service, which is yet to commence operations, will connect London Stratford International with Paris Gare du Nord and Brussels Midi, stopping at Ebbsfleet International. The project includes plans for the acquisition of ten newly developed trainsets. The service is presented as a direct, high-frequency transport option through the Channel Tunnel.
While Uber will apply its branding across the service, the train operations, maintenance, and route planning will be handled independently by Gemini Trains. The model follows Uber’s previous branding collaboration with Thames Clipper boats in London.
Ticket access through the uber app
As part of the marketing collaboration, passengers will be able to book their tickets not only via Gemini Trains’ own channels but also through the Uber platform. The agreement comes as Uber continues to expand its transport offering beyond road vehicles, including train, coach, bike, rental car, and flight bookings in the UK.
Further expansion under consideration
Although the initial focus lies on connecting the UK with France and Belgium, Gemini Trains is also exploring additional routes to other destinations in continental Europe. Ebbsfleet International has been selected as an intermediate stop due to its motorway accessibility and parking capacity for around 5,000 vehicles.
The Gemini Trains management team includes rail sector professionals and is chaired by Lord Tony Berkeley. Details related to vehicle configuration, travel times, frequency, and service start date have not been made public yet.
