In 2023, Bunzl & Biach GmbH transported more than 100,000 tonnes of waste paper throughout Austria.

Bunzl & Biach GmbH, Austria's waste paper collection, sorting, and processing company, has continued its long-standing partnership with ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) for the nationwide transport of waste paper. Since 1987, RCG has been providing Bunzl & Biach with logistics solutions that facilitate the efficient movement of waste paper from key Austrian locations, including Vienna-Floridsdorf, Vienna-Matzleinsdorf and the Linz City Port, to paper mills in Laakirchen, Ortmann, Frohnleiten and Pitten.

In 2023, this cooperation resulted in the transport of 103,600 tonnes of waste paper, all of which was handled by RCG using two- and four-axle "H" class wagons. The environmental benefits of this rail haulage have been considerable, saving over 700 tonnes of CO2 emissions over road haulage

In recognition of their commitment to sustainability, RCG recently presented Bunzl & Biach with a TÜV-certified environmental award. The award highlights the positive impact of their joint efforts to protect the climate. This partnership is still setting the standard for green logistics in the Austrian paper industry.
