The contract, worth US$195.7 million, marks the first export of high-speed trains developed using Korean technology.

In the first export of high-speed trains built with own technology, South Korean train manufacturer Hyundai Rotem Co. has signed a contract to supply high-speed trains to Uzbekistan. The contract is worth US$195.7 million. Under the terms of the contract, Hyundai Rotem will supply six high-speed trains, consisting of a total of 42 wagons, to the Uzbekistan Railways Corp. The contract also includes maintenance and repair services.

This agreement is almost two decades after the introduction of the KTX train, which was the result of French assistance in the development of the train in 2004. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol highlighted the significance of the deal, stating, "It is expected to contribute to the improvement of Uzbekistan's railway infrastructure and help enhance the bilateral cooperation in the railway sector."

In addition, South Korea and Uzbekistan have established a partnership focused on critical minerals, aiming for comprehensive cooperation from joint exploration to end-use. A memorandum of understanding was also signed to modernize Uzbekistan's heating systems. A document was approved to facilitate Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization, providing stability for Korean companies operating in the region.
