The second session will focus on the role of ports in European logistics and their connection to Asian transport routes. Kyra Lemmens from the Port of Moerdijk and Guanzhe Cao from duisport highlighted the integration of short sea shipping with rail and road transport, thereby increasing the resilience of the supply chain. Public-private partnerships within the Dutch top corridors will also be highlighted by Eric Mekenkamp from Buck Consultants International, demonstrating the contribution of the TEN-T network to sustainability.

The future of rail freight

The afternoon session will focus on rail freight. Speakers such as Tabea Klang from DB Cargo Eurasia and Stephen Archer from Baltic Rail will give an insight into the developments of the Baltic-Adriatic Corridor and the connections of the Middle Corridor. Marc Hunziker from VTG Rail Europe will speak about modal shift in Europe. Panellists will be joined by Alina Zhizhina of SIGIS.

Finally, the conference will conclude with a look into the future of the New Silk Road. Industry professionals, including Pavel Lagov from Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Germany and Rashad Shakarov from AMEC Logistics, will share their perspectives about the future of intermodal transport.
