Lithuanian LTG Cargo has a new interim CEO

Eglė Šimė has been appointed after two years in the company's management.

Eglė Šimė joined the management of LTG Cargo in August 2019 and until now has been the Head of Service Delivery. The Board of Directors made the decision based on her experience in successfully leading the company's largest business unit and her ability to focus on implementing large-scale change. Prior to joining LTG Cargo, Eglė Šimė led Franmax, part of the Maxima Group, and Business Service Centre and Energetics Training Centre, part of the Ignitis Group.

"The changes were triggered by the management's trust and desire to continue the changes started in the company. In the near future, we will focus the attention of our team in two main directions: we will continue to work on the diversification of our business, and we will complete the digital transformation of our large enterprise," says Eglė Šimė.

Diversification opportunities are created by the crossing of logistics routes between Asia, Western Europe and Scandinavia in Lithuania, according to her, so the first step will be to strengthen the position in Poland and Ukraine and look for opportunities to start new international logistics routes. To this end, intermodal services to Western Europe will be further developed. The Kaunas intermodal terminal, which became operational earlier this year and where two rail lines of different standards cross, allows uninterrupted freight traffic in these directions.
