Introduction to railway industry in Croatia
Croatian Rail network dates back to the mid 19th century, when the first train lines were built around Zagreb and Northern Croatia in 1857 through 1860. Current network consists of 2617km of rail track in operation. The network enjoyed a limited number of improvements in the 2000s, such as an increase in the maximum speed of the Zagreb-Novska-Vinkovci line. The track gauge is 1 435 mm.
