The new system automatically transfers shipment data from Kombiverkehr to Hamburg-based software provider shipzero each night. Calculated CO₂-equivalent emissions are then returned to Kombiverkehr’s order management system.
Emissions are available for the rail section, the full intermodal journey including modelled road pre- and post-haulage, and a comparison showing the estimated environmental benefit of using rail.
The data is calculated for each order and transport section. Kombiverkehr said the methodology follows the Global Logistics Emissions Council Framework V3, complies with ISO 14083 and has been certified by the Smart Freight Centre.
“The system provides our customers with up-to-date emissions data for every transport carried out with Kombiverkehr,” said Jan Weiser, Head of Corporate Communications at Kombiverkehr.
Users can also combine data from several transport orders, apply filters and export the results for sustainability reporting. The portal can generate a PDF emissions certificate carrying the customer’s company logo.
Emission records remain available for shipments completed during the previous 24 months.
