CIECH Cargo, a logistics company within the CIECH Group, has started a one-month test of a 20D locomotive manufactured by Tabor Dębica.

CIECH Cargo intends to test the suitability of the six-axle diesel locomotives for its business needs. This is another step towards achieving even greater efficiency and further development goals for the company.

CIECH Cargo is a modern railway transport company belonging to CIECH - one of the largest chemical groups in Central and Eastern Europe. The 20D locomotive to be tested is an advanced, modernised version of the TEM2 locomotive, which meets the emission standards - Stage V exhaust emissions according to 2016/1628. The tests will take place during the implementation of limestone transport from Wapienna to Inowrocław, while in the future the locomotive could be used on the Wapienna-Janikowo route.

"We are looking for a locomotive that will enable us to achieve greater efficiency in the performance of our transports by providing better accessibility and a high level of driver comfort, comparable to the state of our modern electric locomotives," says Andrzej Pawłowski, President of the Management Board of CIECH Cargo.

As part of the trial, CIECH Cargo intends to test several tonnage options. In addition, the locomotive will also be able to prove itself in more difficult conditions, as the line between Wapien and Inowrocław has a high gradient of 13‰. After the tests, CIECH Cargo will decide whether to use this type of locomotive for its own transport operations.

CIECH Cargo, based in Inowrocław, employs around 260 people. It has a total of 18 locomotives and 1500 freight wagons. The company provides rail transport services in Poland in the following areas: wagon hire, rail freight transport, operation and maintenance of railway sidings and wagon repairs.
