The locomotive is the first of seven EffiShunter 1000 locomotives ordered by Elektrizace železnic Praha, a company active in the design and construction of traction power supply systems for railways and urban public transport.
According to the intended use, the new EffiShunter 1000 is expected to work mainly during possessions and at the head of work trains. Its approval scope allows operation without restrictions on railway lines in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The CZ LOKO locomotive is equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS), which removes limitations for operation on main corridor routes where ETCS is becoming the standard safety system.
