European Loc Pool has received authorisation for its Euro9000 locomotive to operate on the Italian rail network.
The Euro9000 is a dual-power locomotive designed for international freight traffic. In electric mode, it offers a power output of up to 9 MW. The design combines electric operation with an onboard diesel engine or battery module, enabling operation on non-electrified sections without the need for locomotive changes.
The locomotive is compliant with Technical Specifications for Interoperability (TSI) and is intended for use across multiple European countries. According to the technical concept, it is suitable for hauling longer and heavier freight trains on international corridors.
The Italian approval adds another national network to the Euro9000’s homologation portfolio, supporting its use in trans-European freight flows and cross-border operations involving southern Europe.
The locomotive now has a full country configuration Netherlands-Belgium-Germany-Austria-Switzerland-Italy.
