HSL Logistik adds fifth Euro9000 locomotive from European Loc Pool

HSL Logistik GmbH has received its fifth Euro9000 locomotive from European Loc Pool (ELP), continuing its fleet expansion with the six-axle, multi-system hybrid model. The unit—named "Space Oddity"—joins HSL’s existing lineup of ELP-leased locomotives, strengthening the operator’s traction capabilities across European corridors.

The Euro9000 delivers 9 MW in electric mode and 1.9 MW in diesel, and is compatible with hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel. With a tractive force of 500 kN, it is suited for heavy freight applications, particularly on routes requiring both electrified and non-electrified sections.

This latest delivery reinforces the ongoing collaboration between HSL Logistik and ELP, which positions the Euro9000 as a flexible solution for cross-border rail freight. The locomotive also features a custom livery, including an astronaut-themed graphic as a nod to HSL’s management.

Ninth EuroDual locomotive delivered to HHPI

Heavy Haul Power International GmbH (HHPI) has expanded its fleet with a ninth EuroDual locomotive from ELP. The dual-power six-axle locomotive offers 6.15 MW in electric mode and 2.8 MW in diesel, also HVO-ready. The unit is built for high-capacity, energy-efficient freight transport across mixed electrification networks.

The delivery underscores HHPI’s strategy of relying on hybrid traction to increase operational flexibility and reduce environmental impact on long-haul European freight routes.
