The purchase aligns with the Regional Transport Plan of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship for 2021-2030, addressing the region's need to replace older rolling stock.

POLREGIO will acquire four new electric multiple units (EMUs) for regional operations in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship, following the approval of EU funding from the “European Funds for Świętokrzyskie 2021-2027” program. The financial support totals EUR 11.3 million and will partially cover the project's net cost exceeding EUR 28 million.

The procurement process to select a supplier has yet to begin, with delivery of the first two trains scheduled by the end of 2027, followed by two additional units by the end of 2028.

Each EMU will offer a minimum passenger capacity of 150, including over 100 seats, in a single-space configuration. Key features of the trains will include air conditioning, CCTV monitoring, electrical outlets, and USB charging ports accessible to passengers. Operational speed capability will reach 160 km/h, with multiple-unit operation functionality enabling coupling of two or three trains.

Furthermore, each vehicle will be fitted with the European Train Control System (ETCS), a standard railway traffic control and safety management component.

Upon delivery, the EMUs are expected to service the following regional routes within Świętokrzyskie province:

  • Kielce – Skarżysko-Kamienna
  • Kielce – Sandomierz
  • Kielce – Busko-Zdrój
  • Kielce – Sędziszów
  • Kielce – Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski
  • Kielce – Włoszczowa North
  • Sandomierz – Skarżysko-Kamienna
  • Sandomierz – Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski
  • Skarżysko-Kamienna – Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski

POLREGIO has indicated further plans to seek additional funding through national programs and explore opportunities within the secondary rolling stock market to continue renewing its fleet across regions.
