ELP successfully deploys another state-of-the art locomotive on German market.

Die Verkehrsbetriebe Peine-Salzgitter (VPS), a subsidiary of Salzgitter AG, has introduced two EuroDual hybrid locomotives into its operations. The new locomotives, leased from European Loc Pool (ELP), combine diesel-electric and electric capabilities, enabling them to be used on both electrified and non-electrified routes. Their design supports the use of overhead lines to reduce diesel consumption, while the option of HVO diesel and the company’s reliance on green electricity further diminish the carbon footprint.

The locomotives are intended for heavy-duty transport, serving raw material flows bound for Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH’s steelworks. They offer higher loading capacity, supporting operations from Hansaport in Hamburg and from the East Harz region to Salzgitter.
