Fixed order was placed for 30 multisystem locomotives

RS Lease has entered into a framework agreement with Siemens Mobility for the acquisition of up to 65 Vectron locomotives. The initial phase includes the delivery of 30 Vectron MS locomotives, with an option to acquire an additional 35 units, which would include Vectron Multi System and Vectron Dual Mode variants.

The Vectron MS locomotives, produced by Siemens Mobility, offer a maximum output of 6.4 MW and a top speed of 200 km/h. These locomotives will be added to RS Lease’s current fleet, which consists of approximately 90 Vectron MS units. This agreement presents an opportunity for RS Lease to increase its total fleet to up to 155 locomotives.

The production of the new locomotives will be handled at Siemens Mobility's Munich-Allach facility, while the chassis components are sourced from their competence center in Graz.

A full-service maintenance agreement between RS Lease and Siemens Mobility is in place for the existing fleet, and discussions are ongoing regarding extending this coverage to include the new acquisitions.

RS Lease is also the most probable future winner of Vectrons lease requested by ZSSK. The conditions of the lease tender make it almost impossible for the other lease companies to comply with the tender requirements, as several other players on the market confirmed to Railmarket News. ZSSK requires 30 Vectrons, the exact number that RS Lease has confirmed in its order.
