The announcement was made during a visit by representatives and partners of the Environmental Alliance of Saxony-Anhalt to MuR-STAHLBAU, a subsidiary of SPITZKE.

SPITZKE has announced the purchase of ten new DE18 locomotives from Vossloh Rolling Stock, further advancing its capabilities in railway construction and maintenance.

The DE 18 Stage V locomotives, will be delivered from summer 2025. SLG SPITZKE LOGISTIK, a specialist waste disposal company, will use them in construction logistics and for transportation contracts signed by this rail transport company. 

The company already operates two of Vossloh Rolling Stock G18 locomotives, which are diesel-hydraulic, yet share up to 60% of components with their diesel-electric counterparts.

During the announcement, SPITZKE representatives, including Mark Fisher, Frank Dörnbrack, and Mario Schirner, provided insights into the company’s core business areas and sustainability strategies. The discussion emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainable and climate-friendly rail mobility, particularly through its production of steel masts for railway infrastructure.

MuR-STAHLBAU GmbH, with 27 years of experience, specializes in railway-specific and general steel construction. The company, employing around 90 people, has been committed to sustainable energy practices for the past 15 years.

From modern locomotives, Spitzke also operates Siemens Smartron and Vectron Dual Mode locomotives along with a fleet of approximately 20 more older diesel high-cab locomotives.
