This order will add innovative features and improved capacity to the line from Munich to Mittenwald through the Werdenfelser Land region of Germany.

Siemens Mobility will deliver six new 5-car Desiro HC electric multiple-unit trains to DB Regio to improve rail services in the scenic Werdenfelser Land region of Germany, connecting Munich, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald.

Scheduled for delivery in 2028, the trains will be equipped with the European Train Control System (ETCS) and, for the first time, ski racks to cater for the region's winter sports enthusiasts.

The order includes a comprehensive spare parts supply package to ensure long-term maintenance and support for the new trains. This is the third purchase of Desiro HC trains by Deutsche Bahn, following previous purchases for the Franconia-South Thuringia and Danube-Isar networks.

The addition of these trains is part of DB Regio's ongoing efforts to modernise its fleet and improve the passenger experience on one of Bavaria's most picturesque routes, popular with both commuters and tourists heading to the Alps.
