The Italian logistics company GTS will extend its fleet of intermodal platforms by an additional 54 wagons.

The company represented on rails by GTS Rail already has a fleet of over 500 wagons for intermodal transport, which will now be increased by 54 wagons delivered by the beginning of 2024.

With a total investment of EUR 7 million, GTS Rail intends to increase the circulation of its trains between Italian Bologna and Belgian Zeebrugge with two more per week.

The company moved 50,000 containers by the end of October 2023, moving over 1.2 million tonnes of goods. It carries cargo by containers or 45’ swap bodies, easily transferrable between rail and road. GTS Logistics runs the famous pasta train for Barilla as a customer, for example, exporting the famous Italian commodity to the world.

Earlier this year, GTS Rail announced a EUR 74 million investment into a fleet of twenty Alstom Traxx DC locomotives.
