Leo Express plans to introduce a new long-distance international rail service connecting Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland to the Polish - Ukrainian border.
The route will begin in Przemyśl, close to the Ukrainian border, and continue via Rzeszów, Tarnów, Kraków, Katowice and Tychy in Poland. In the Czech Republic, the trains will call at Bohumín, Ostrava, Olomouc, Pardubice, Prague, Kralupy nad Vltavou, Ústí nad Labem and Děčín. In Germany, stops are planned in Bad Schandau, Dresden, Leipzig, Weimar, Erfurt, Fulda, Hanau, Offenbach, Frankfurt Süd and Frankfurt Airport. The total route length exceeds 1,300 kilometres.
Fares between terminal stations start at 10 EUR. Initially, tickets are offered without seat reservations. From January, Leo Express intends to introduce a fully seat-reserved option and a Business class. Passengers who purchase non-reserved tickets will later be assigned a seat of their choice once reservations are activated.
Leo Express will operate the service with its existing train fleet, offering onboard Wi-Fi, power sockets, air conditioning and catering services.
Due to temporary infrastructure works in Germany, the Monday departure from Frankfurt will run four hours later, at 12:27. Because of regular maintenance, services on Tuesdays and Wednesdays will operate only between Frankfurt Airport and Bohumín, while on Wednesdays and Thursdays trains will run only between Bohumín and Frankfurt Airport.
The new connection also provides early-morning arrivals at Frankfurt Airport, enabling transfers to European and long-haul flights. In the opposite direction, the service offers late-evening arrivals in Kraków and Przemyśl. Additional regional stops in Saxony and Thuringia, including Weißenfels, Naumburg, Apolda and Weimar, are planned to support early airport access.
Leo Express states that the route will offer direct rail links between Hesse, Thuringia, Saxony and eastern Poland, with onward connections towards Ukraine available near Przemyśl.
