The Stockholm suburban railway, Roslagsbanan, will extend its network from the current terminus at Stockholm Östra to T-Centralen, the city’s central transportation hub.

The project, with an estimated budget of 950 million euros, is part of the “Sweden Negotiation” framework, which connects state investment in public transport infrastructure with municipal commitments to residential development.

The extension will include a 3-kilometer underground tunnel linking the railway to Odenplan station, where connections to metro, commuter trains, and bus networks are available. This development aims to address increased traffic demand in Stockholm's suburban areas.

Projections suggest that daily ridership on Roslagsbanan, operated by Transdev, could rise from the current 50,000 passengers to 150,000 by 2050. Construction is scheduled to start in 2028, with the first operations anticipated by 2038.
