Koleje Małopolskie has formalized a contract with NEWAG for the purchase of up to 25 new electric multiple units (EMUs), valued at over EUR 304 million. The framework agreement, signed at the Małopolskie Railway Technical and Operational Point, outlines the delivery of the new trains over a four-year period, with the first set expected to arrive by 2027.
The new EMUs are intended to serve regional lines in the Małopolska region, enhancing local rail capacity and modernizing the fleet. The contract also includes vehicle maintenance and additional services. Initial deliveries will consist of between six and 14 vehicles, with the possibility of expanding to the full 25 units as part of the agreement.
