Croatia tenders 83 km railway upgrade on TEN-T Corridor X

The pan-European corridor intends to connect Austrian Salzburg with Greek Thessaloniki with several branches.

HŽ Infrastruktura has initiated a public procurement process for construction works on the 83-kilometer Dugo Selo – Novska railway section. The contract, estimated at €620 million, is co-financed by the European Union through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and the Competitiveness and Cohesion Program (PKK). The project involves upgrading the existing line and constructing a second track on this segment of the international railway corridor.

  Scope of Work:  

  • Reconstruction of stations at Dugo Selo, Ivanić-Grad, Popovača, Kutina, and Novska
  • Upgrades at Deanovec, Moslavačka Gračenica, Lipovljani, Novoselec, and Ludina, with some converted into stops or dispatch points
  • Modifications at Ostrna, Prečec, Širinec, Voloder, Repušnica, and Stara Subocka stops
  • Construction of a new stop at Okešinec and closure of Prečec station
  • Grade separation or closure of most level crossings, except for Ostrna, Križ, Lipovica, and Voloder
  • Installation of new traffic control and signaling systems
  • Upgrades to railway electrification infrastructure

Once completed, the upgraded line will allow maximum speeds of up to 160 km/h. The deadline for bid submission is April 8, 2025, with construction expected to last five years from the contractor’s commencement date.
